Nuture Our Future Touch a Truck

 

 

 

 

Mark your calendars for one of Laurel’s favorite family events! Our local Touch-A-Truck event returns to downtown Laurel on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 from 9am to 2pm!

Nurture Our Future Touch a Truck provides a unique opportunity for children to explore vehicles of all types – public service, emergency, utility, construction, transportation, delivery and “fun & flashy” trucks – in one place. Personnel will tell about the equipment and allow “hands on” exploration. This year’s event is generously sponsored by Sertoma Club of Laurel and hosted by Nurture Our Future. This year’s event also includes a health, wellness, and safety fair spotlighting healthcare providers, businesses, and services available to children and families.

Nurture Our Future, a local nonprofit dedicated to the education and development of children in Laurel and Jones County began hosting the event in 2022 and is excited for this year’s even bigger and better event. Proceeds from sponsorship from Sertoma Club of Laurel and other generous sponsors will go to provide books to local children under age five through Imagination Library and also will support Nurture Our Future’s other programs.

“We always have an incredible time planning and hosting Touch-A-Truck.” said Patrick Nassar, chair of the 2025 Touch-a-Truck Committee, “We can’t wait to welcome children and families back to downtown to explore, play, and learn, and we expect a larger than ever turnout, 40 trucks, as well as a health fair for families.”

This year’s event includes meet and greets with a few life-size characters and features a custom-created art activity created by Adam Trest courtesy of Laurel Arts League. There will also be two hours geared towards children and adults with sensory sensitivities where horns will be silenced on all the vehicles. These hours are 9am-10am and 1pm-2pm.
